True first British printing of this edition, undated - however 1950. With original unclipped (and unpriced) jacket. Illustrated by Janet & Anne Johnston. All eight colour plates are present and in very good condition. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, patchy loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), few tears, few small marks, patchy browning (including to spine), creasing/rubbing to edges, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, pushing/bumping to corners, few impressed marks to back, is a little fragile and is in only fair condition. Boards are good with a little browning/foxing/small marks to spine, little pushing/bumping to corners, the odd minor bump/rub to edges, a little patchy browning and minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages dyed red are slightly dusty with the odd small mark/minor foxing. Small mark to lower corner of pages. End-papers little tanned with the odd small mark/mild foxing. Odd small mark/mild foxing to page edges and bottoms. Pages little tanned. Odd small mark/scattered foxing to pages. No other faults.
