Poor / heavily worn. Valued for its provenance. A Guide to the Moon* by Patrick Moore, published in 1953, is an early edition of this classic work on lunar observation and the study of Earth’s nearest celestial neighbor. This copy has a particularly intriguing feature: extensive handwritten lunar notes and annotations, including markings on the foldout lunar map. The volume also bears a bookplate belonging to Philip H. Davis, while the printed dedication references F. Hadland Davis. The annotations offer a fascinating glimpse into the detailed study of the Moon and may be of special interest to collectors of vintage astronomy books, lunar cartography, and the history of observational astronomy. Patrick Moore was closely associated with the British Astronomical Association’s Lunar Section, an important organization for amateur lunar research. The authorship of the handwritten notes has not been established, so they are best regarded as an intriguing feature for further research. A distinctive collectible for astronomy enthusiasts, historians of science, and collectors of annotated scientific books. …
