The author who passed away in 2012, was born and raised in Chisholm became a navigator on a B-24 bomber in World War II and after the war entered the University of Minnesota where he graduated from both the college and medical school. He describes what life was like in small iron-mining town in northern Minnesota where the education was unique with more than 50% of the population was foreign born. He describes the effects both of the Great Depression and World War II. Since working on the Iron Range was the main job for everyone, the locals called themselves "Rangers". Since this book was issued in a small print run it is relatively uncommon. Seller Inventory # 025257
