8vo, 299pp. Sharp First Edition of this Golden Age mystery. Bound in black cloth with title and decoration in red on spire. Square, tight and generally clean throughout. Some moderate off-setting to paste-downs and end-papers but no page toning. Small stain on the bottom of the half-title page. Some light bumping to tips and softness to spine ends. Small bookseller sticker on rear paste-down. A bit of spotting here and there on the boards. Beautiful unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.00), has a spot or two of soiling to rear panel and a couple of small areas of color touch-ups at the heel and front hinge but are almost unnoticeable. Still quite fresh and bright with no chipping, creases, toning or tears. Very well-preserved. A very pretty collectable copy and uncommon in any condition. (Hubin, p.379.
