Based on the author's own history of growing up in a Polish-Jewish shtetl & his journey to America, translated & adapted by Seymour Barofsky, with pen-and-ink illustrations throughout by renowned children's book illustrator, Maurice Sendak (the author's son). 42 pp. The First Printing of the First Trade Edition from 1985, this slim small 8vo has brown-gray cloth over boards with gilt design to front/gilt lettering to spine. Condition is Near Fine: completely clean & bright & unmarked, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages creamy white & unmarked. Extremely mild rubbing (& we're being picky).
