Both stated first editions. (1) The larger of the two is 8 1/2" by 5 3/4" (21.5mm by 14.5mm). Very good book in very good dust jacket. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on front panel and spine (although the text on the spine is sunned and now appears black). Boards are sunned, more so on the edges and heavily on the spine. End papers are a gold harlequin pattern. Inside gutter is cracked at the first half-title page. External page edges are age-toned, as are margins on inside text pages but less so. Text is internally clean and text block is sound. Vibrant dust jacket is in gray tones with bright orange lettering. The lower 1 3/8" of jacket highlights the promotional information as well as the price of $2.50 on the inside front flap. The inside flap corners have small uniform clips, price is intact. Black scuff marks on the front and back spine folds at tail. Lower left corner of front panel has a 1 1/2" closed vertical tear with adjacent 3/8" closed horizontal tear and adjacent creases. Lower right front fore-edge corner has a 1/4" closed vertical tear along the fold. Fore-edge corners are minimally rubbed. (2) The small version measures 7 3/4" by 5 1/2" (19.7mm by 14mm). Very good book in very good dust jacket. Gray cloth covered boards with maroon text on front panel and spine. Some sunning around edges, more so on the spine. Edges at head and tail of board spine are thinning and back corner at tail of spine is just starting to fray. Lower right fore-edge corner of front panel and upper left fore-edge corner of back panel are rubbed through. Upper page edges are orange tinted and with small specks that do not look like foxing. Plain end papers. Text is internally clean and text block is solid. Dust jacket lightly scuffed overall. Similar in colors to the first book but the orange is less bright and there is no promotional information included on the lower edge. Similar corners clipped on the inside flaps but no price is showing. This may be a later edition dust jacket. Spine and fore-edge folds are rubbed. Several chips and closed tears with losses of up to 1/4" across edge at head of jacket spine. Upper edge of front panel has several closed vertical tears of up to 1/2" with adjacent and connecting creases. Lower corner at front spine fold has a 3/4" closed vertical tear with adjacent 1" diagonal tear into the spine and several adjacent creases. Tail of jacket spine is rubbed and chipped with loss at the corners of up to 3/16". All fore-edge corners are rubbed and with closed tears of up to 1/2" along the spine.
