Hardback. First Edition. Golfing by J. R. Hartley. J. R. Hartley's Fly Fishing, a spectactular bestseller, was a book described by one reviewer as 'one of the funniest one could ever read'. Now the author casts an eye, if not a fly, over another enthusiasm, golf. It seems he has accumulated enough skill to take his turn on several major courses throughout the British Isles, braving the curiosities of club life and applying the gleanings of experience to a cunningly competitive spirit - particularly against one old adversary. The narrative is as idiosyncratic as ever, but in it most golfers may recognise something of themselves. In the context of the most famous contest never to have taken place, J.R. as a golfer is perhaps more tortoise than hare. But we all know which wins. J. R. Hartely is back in full swing and happily Patrick Benson, his accomplished illustrator, is there to provide the follow through. Illustrations. 127 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.). …
