Add to basketThis delightful book consists of the letters of a young Chinese noblewoman, in the late 1800s, to her husband who is away traveling and then, twenty-five years later, to her mother-in-law. First published in English in 1914 as "My Lady of the Chinese Courtyard", translated (and probably embellished) by Elizabeth Cooper, this edition is adapted by Eileen Goudge who also provides a Foreword. Perfectly illustrated in traditional style. Apart from a remainder line on bottom edges, a fine copy in a near fine dust jacket slightly faded on spine panel.
