Item description from seller

First printing of Penguin paperback edition with number 1, 2009. Nice tight copy, no names or marks inside, appears unread and as new. Cover artwork by Mark Heorld. ; 224 pages; Author's debut novel short listed for The Guardian First Book Award 2008. Sam Marsdyke spends his days tending his father's sheep alone on the Yorkshire moors, watching wide-eyed ramblers marching past, and 'townies' turning old farms into second homes. Then a new family arrives eager for 'welly weekends' and scenic views from the bedroom window, and Sam catches sight of their young daughter. What begins as an unlikely friendship turns into something altogether more unnerving.
