George Neilson Patterson (1920-2012), also known as Patterson of Tibet, was a Scottish engineer and missionary who served as medical officer and diplomatic representative of the Tibetan resistance movement during the Annexation of Tibet by the People's Republic of China. He is probably best know as the author of 'Tibetan Journey'. The book left many readers wondering how he came to be living in a log hut on top of a Tibetan house belonging to the leader of the Khambas, just before the Chinese Communist invasion of Tibet began. The present book explains what brought Patterson to that place at that time and what led up to his journey. Although there is plenty of physical adventure and hard riding with some magnificent descriptions of mountains and rivers, the emphasis here is on his beliefs, the driving force of his actions and decisions. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with a little foxing on the fore edge of the text block and partial offsetting to the free endpapers. A name has been written on the frone fixed endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and small pieces are missing from the corner tips. The top of the spine is bumped with small pieces missing and some tears and creasing, including a tear of about 1 1/4" on the top front spine edge. There is an old tape repair on the front of the wrapper and a newer tape repair on the reverse. About 2" is missing from the bottom of the spine and there are 1 1/2" stains from an old tape repair on both sides of the bottom of the spine. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover. Seller Inventory # gTibet03
