The day I printed out the last Goddess Meditation, I sat back for a minute and looked around the room where I write. One cat was curled up in the shadow of a pile of books on meditation, the other was sitting on the window sill gazing at the neighborhood. All I had left to do was the Afterword, my personal summing up of a very personal book. I took a deep breath and suddenly realized how tense sitting at a keyboard in front of a blank screen makes me. I took another deep breath and tried to let go. I took a third deep breath and closed my eyes, and the end of the book came to me.

Her eyes are suddenly open inside my closed eyes. Her lungs are now breathing me, deeply, easily, fully. Her hands are upon my hands as gently as mine were upon my son’s small hands twenty-five years ago, when I helped him form his first letters. Her muscles hold my spine erect, Her mind pushes my restless thoughts out of the way. She oversits me at the keyboard. She writes me. And the images come again—the cauldron of sacred space that is the whole universe, wings and security blankets and trees and a river and the chambered nautilus. She is meditating me, imagining me, grounding and connecting me. And I am in Her heart. She has spent time with me, watered and weeded me, tamed me. Creating this book, I leap from the bedrock of Her wisdom and spiral in Her energy . . . and all these words spin out. When I return to everyday awareness, I know that you’re in my imagination now. We’ve also spent time together, you and I, and you’re in my heart. I sit here imagining you imagining Goody Getty and General Terminatrix, seeing Hestia’s flame, walking with Athene, dancing with Grandmother Spider. We’ve found grounding, pleasure, compassion, intuition, creativity, and understanding together. We’ve become the Goddess Pillar, both of us, connecting the deepest Earth with the highest Heaven. We’re connected in mindfulness. I send these Goddess Meditations to you with all my love. Brightest blessings to you!
