Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, hardcover Pantheon First Edition, 5th printing (March 1955), is a beautifully designed and thoughtfully preserved work of literary and philosophical reflection. The printer's key, "FIFTH PRINTING: MARCH, 1955," confirms its fifth-printing status. The book is quarter-bound in sea-blue cloth with natural beige boards adorned with copper-colored seashells and white print along the spine. It is in Near Fine/Very Good+ condition, complemented by a Very Good blue and cream-colored dust jacket that displays serene images of seashells on the front and a photograph of the author on the back. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, with the original "$2.75" price printed on the upper front flap corner. The covers remain in excellent condition with sharp corners, though the spine caps are slightly indented and rubbed. The binding is firm. The interior pages are clean and unmarked, though lightly tanned with age. The dust jacket shows light toning, shelf wear, and rubbing to the edges, but no chips or tears are present. This beloved work draws inspiration from the simplicity and elegance of seashells found along the shore, offering poignant reflections on the stages of a woman’s life. Exploring themes such as relationships, marriage, personal growth, and the pursuit of balance, Lindbergh critiques the overwhelming nature of modern life. She encourages readers to find clarity amid chaos, reminding them of the power of mindfulness and simplicity. Written by a mother of five and an accomplished writer, the book’s wisdom is timeless, resonating with readers of all backgrounds and remaining relevant across generations. Its enduring appeal lies in its ability to articulate universal truths about personal connection, growth, and the graceful passage of time. The book will be shipped with utmost care, using sturdy cardboard and protective bubble wrap to ensure it arrives in pristine condition. A USPS electronic tracking number will be provided free of charge for your convenience. If you’d like additional details or pictures, please feel free to reach out at any time.…

About the Author
Anne Morrow Lindbergh was born in 1906 in New Jersey. She married aviator Charles Lindbergh, and became a renowned aviator in her own right. In 1932, the couple's first baby, Charles, was kidnapped and found dead. The incident caused a media furore, and the Lindberghs retreated to England, and later to an island off the coast of Brittany, before returning to the US in 1938.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh's many books (including biographies, poetry, general non-fiction and diaries) won her several prestigious awards and A Gift from the Sea made her a household name for a generation of women.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh spent her final years in her Connecticut home, continuing her writing projects and enjoying visits from her children and grand-children. She died on February 7, 2001, at the age of ninety-four.
