George Adams the Younger (1750 1795) was a royal court optician and scientist. Besides making microscopes and globes for King George III, he also studied magnetism and electricity. The instruments depicted on the folding plates were branded with his name. Possibly, the book served as an advertisement. Text in English. 8vo. 22 x 13.7 cm. [3] leaves + XVI + 500 pp. 32 folding engravings + 1 frontispiece, copper plate. Printed on blue paper. Brown ink inscription "In. Jackson" on the title page. Occasional foxing. Uncut, rubbed edges browned. Original hard cardboards. Oil stains on the cover. Paper title paste-down on the spine. Very good condition. Seller Inventory # 1333
