Lawrence, Kansas, octavo, 334 p. The first edition of the first laws passed by Kansas following its statehood, January 29, 1861. Overall, a VG copy bound in the original full calf, with the original backstrip bearing red and black leather title labels. Covers worn, front board detached, rear board nearly so; spine likewise worn, but the title labels are near complete, with bright, bold lettering. Binding firm. Edges of endpapers browned and eroded, but the text pages are remarkably well preserved, and are fresh, clean and bright. Faint inscribed signature of E.H. Hulett on the front board, but no other previous ownership indications. A sound copy of a scarce publication, worthy of restoration.
