Octavo (7 3/4" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's green cloth with white and gilt decoration and lettering to spine and red lettering and white and brown pictorial decoration on front board. (BAL 11886; Sisson & Martens 24 7 121) First edition with large rubber rubber-stamp of Metropolitan Magazine Company on copyright page. A run of 26,420 were printed in jacket. The Game is a 1905 novel by Jack London about a twenty year-old boxer Joe, who meets his death in the ring. London was a sports reporter for the Oakland Herald and based the novel on his personal observations.
