Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. 1951. Dust jacket is very good, with minor shelf wear along the top and bottom edges and no material loss; only a few tiny, hardly noticeable edge tears at the top and bottom. Book is very clean, sound mid century hardcover with a tight binding and spine, pages crisp with mild age wear and toning typical of a book of this age. Pages have no markings. Light shelf rub to boards; binding and spine gilt remains clear, solid, and attractive with no loose pages. Top page edges have gilted edges, silver or blue. No writing, no remainder marks. A well preserved example of this increasingly scarce 1951 Hutton first edition. An American drama written under Felix Riesenberg Jr.’s pseudonym, Felix Holt. This novel follows a young man whose life is shaped by hardship, restlessness, and the search for purpose. As he drifts through postwar America, he encounters characters who test his ideals, challenge his loyalties, and force him to confront the consequences of his choices. The story blends grit, vulnerability, and moral tension, capturing the unsettled spirit of the era. Holt’s narrative style leans into atmosphere and introspection, offering a portrait of a man trying to outrun his past while struggling to define his future. Most desirable for collectors of mid century American fiction and readers who enjoy atmospheric, postwar Americana, who would be the most likely buyers of this 1951 first edition.…
