Dark brown blind-stamp decorated cloth with gilt fr. & sp. lettering, clean, bright and virtually unworn - very small rubbing spots to spine corners and a faint small light spot to fr. F/piece with detached, tanned tissue guard, chipped along bottom edge + xv + 213 + (1 blank leaf) + 32 (tanned pub. catalogue), 64 (I make it) photo-plates on separate leaves ex-pagination, 1 unf. map; large illustrated 1905 prize plate to fr. end-paper to a Dorothy Cornerford for' Success at Examinations' from the Ursuline Convent, Wimbledon, intermittent marginal tanning spots, otherwise no obvious faults, ingrained dustiness to top edge. The author's journey was from East to West in 1900 with his wife and 12 year old son, following attendance at various Japanese and Chinese conventions of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor.
