Gerald Martin es el Profesor Em�rito Andrew W. Mellon de Lenguas Modernas en la Universidad de Pittsburgh y profesor de Estudios Caribe�os en la London Metropolitan University. Durante veinticinco a�os fue el �nico nativo ingl�s miembro de los "Archivos" Asociaci�n de Literatura Latino Americana del Siglo XX en Par�s, y ha sido presidente del Instituto Internacional de Literatura Iberoamericana en los Estados Unidos. Entre sus publicaciones se encuentra Journeys Through the Labyrinth: Latin American Fiction in the Twentieth Century, una traducci�n y edici�n cr�tica de Hombres de ma�z de Miguel �ngel Asturias y varias contribuciones al Cambridge History of Latin America.
