Add to basketBook Condition, Fine: Fading to spine of publisher's original binding, a mark across front cover board, bumps to corners and edges. All silver lettering decorative artwork remains bright and vibrant. Binding now protected by a plastic slipcover. Top edge of text block stained by dust, otherwise mostly clean, good page edges. Foxing through endpapers, fades to light spots through internal pages, mostly clean and tidy. Book remains tightly bound.
First edition, second impression, published by John Murray. An exceptionally scarce title, with very few copies appearing on the market. Print runs for this novel were limited. Surviving examples, particularly early impressions in hardback, are rare, making the book highly appealing to collectors of twentieth-century British fiction and elusive first editions.
The Furnace offers a compelling narrative marked by vivid characterisation and atmospheric depth, drawing readers into a world charged with tension and emotional complexity. R. Macaulay?s storytelling blends psychological insight with narrative drive, delivering a novel that is both thought-provoking and evocative. This elusive work stands out for its craftsmanship and the distinctive voice of its author.
