First book after the Primer (see our listing #025967) in the foundational "Dick & Jane" series of readers, beloved by those who grew up with them, now long out of use in the curriculum, but providing insights into reading instruction in mid-20th-century America. This volume still had Dick & Jane, but introduced a slew of new friends (though they remained all white, middle class, & from nuclear families), as well as some children's stories excerpted from other sources. In 191 pages, this is a FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1962, illustrated in full color. With light blue cloth-covered boards colorfully decorated with running children on front cover, this hardcover is in VG condition: generally quite clean & completely unmarked save for old school stamps in front & rear matter. Pages white, colors bright, though exterior edges of text block show slight darkening/light soil. Binding strong, reinforced hinges secure. Mild-moderate rubbing to extremities, heaviest at both ends of spine & all corners. Small area of sticker residue to lower front cover near spine. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
