The first edition of this very scarce work, in an unusually fine condition, in the publisher's original pictorial paper wraps. A fun collection of colourful cartoons by the British political cartoonist Bert Thomas (1883-1966) who, as well as contributing to Punch magazine, was the creator of British propaganda posters during the World Wars. This work compiles a selection of amusing cartoons of British country life.During the First World War, Thomas was best known for the cartoon of a Tommy lighting a pipe with the caption "Arf a Mo", Kaiser!". His best known work during the Second World War was the series "Is Your Journey Really Necessary?". In the publisher's original pictorial paper wraps. Externally, bright and smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine.
