The entire archive of the Perret brothers is a collection of exceptional importance, collected by the Conservatoire National Des Arts et Métiers and established in 1992 at the French Institute of Architecture. Auguste Perret (1874-1954) created in 1905 with his brothers Gustave (1876-1952) and Claude (1880-1956) a reinforced concrete company associated with an architectural firm, an unusual production structure that would apply itself to the creation of a new architectural order. Auguste was the designer and the "master", Gustave designed and managed the firm, while Claude was in charge of the Algiers branch. The adventure ended with the death of Auguste Perret in 1954. The main achievements are commented on by architectural historians, followed by a chronological inventory of all 350 projects. The portraits and correspondence of Auguste Perret with Antoine Bourdelle, Fernand Léger, Maurice Denis, Paul Valéry and Louis Jouvet show the unique place of a man who declared: "The architect is a poet who thinks and speaks in construction.".
