Item description from seller

First edition hardcover, bound in red cloth, with gilt lettering on front cover and faded gilt lettering on spine, is in VG condition, having acid-shadow in the first endpaper section, where a previous owner had placed some newsprint pages (possibly reviews of the book); very slight slant to spine, and overall moderate surface and edge wear to volume. Illustrated with b&w plates. "An occasional Kreuger, Whitney, or Coster may be expected in the business world, but the revelation that one of the greatest of book collectors, a group always regarded by the public as supremely respectable, was also a forger provides a dramatic theme for Wildred Partington's biography."--Frederick B. Adams, Jr. Book collecting. Forgery. Crime. Biography. DB.
