These lovely tempera paintings have a quality of primitive art created by a very sophisticated artist. Laura Adams Armer won the Newbery Award for her 1931 book about Navajo life, Waterless Mountain. Each page of text has a small marginal page drawing of aboriginal art, all different and printed in different colors of ink. There are 20 of these charming little drawings in all. Illustrated endpapers printed in green. $2.00 price on dust jacket flap. Book is tight and clean. Gutters and margins around endpapers a little darkened. Cover is slightly darkened at about 1/8" deep at the top and bottom edges. Overall, this is an amazingly beautiful copy. Jacket is clean and crisp with 3/8" deep chips at top and bottom of spine. 1/4" scrape on front panel. One 2" horizontal closed tear at the bottom of the front panel. A little creasing at top and bottom edges. And a little rubbing along the joints of jacket. Orange cloth 4to stamped in green. Full color dust jacket.
