BOOKS SHIP THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WRAPPED IN PADDING, IN A BOX. Photographs and text by J. Ross Baughman. 64 pages; 47 b&w plates; 8.5 x 9.75 inches. A series of photo essays depicting people on the fringes of society: Ku Klux Klan members, transvestites, carnival sideshow workers, and the institutionalized mentally ill. Baughman was the youngest photojournalist to win the Pulitzer Prize for photography--in 1978, at the age of 23. This is his second book, self-published, and was meant to be a "visual reply to [his first book], a study in conformity and stereotypes." Very scarce.
