First UK Edition. THE ARTIST'S COPY. Publisher's original blue boards with dark blue/black lettering to the front board and spine. Blue end-papers. Dustiness to the top edge and some darkening to the spine and the edges of both the front and back board. Overall a VG+ copy. In the RARE dustwrapper which is priced 7/6 net to the spine (as called for). The dustwrapper has creasing and minor wear at the head and tail of the spine and is creased to the left hand edge of the front panel. Great period cover art by Bip Pares and this copy has her pencilled name in the front. An escaped convict, a series of murders, strange happenings in the Gallery of Statues, and everyone with something to hide and something to fear until Inspector Gidleigh laid the mystery bare.
