DESCRIPTION: James Welch, the author of this 391 page novel, has writtern about "White Man's Dog" who is a member of the Blackfeet Tribe, during 1870. The Blackfeet tribe that lived on the plains of Montana Territory lived a harsh life made even harder by the contacts with the white intruders. This is a story of one particular man who is a member of Pikuni Band. The Pikuni go on a raid against the Crows, and in the process, "White Man's Dog" is able to make a name for himself as a brave young warrior. His name is changed to "Fools Crow". This is the story of his life. The front and rear endpapers show a map of the Montana Territory and they also indicate the location of Indian tribes in the area. * CONDITION: The dust jacket show minor wear but it is not price cut.
