Flight of the Kiwi: Around the World Solo in a Tiny Single-Engined Plane By Cliff Tait. Publisher: Whitcombe & Tombs, Christchurch, 1970. First edition. Hardback with dust jacket. Original cloth boards are crisp with a firm binding. No internal owner inscriptions or names. Pages show natural tanning to the endpapers, and light foxing confined to the closed page edges. The dust jacket is intact and bright, showing only minor creasing and light standard edge-wear. 176 pages, illustrated with black and white photographic plates. The gripping and historic first-hand memoir of Cliff Tait, the pioneering New Zealander who became the first Kiwi to fly solo around the world. Navigating over vast oceans and challenging terrain in "Miss Jacy"—a tiny, single-engined AESL Airtourer 115 aircraft—Tait chronicles the raw endurance, mechanical perils, and ultimate triumphs of his extraordinary 1969 global flight. An inspiring and essential volume for collectors of New Zealand aviation history, adventure narratives, and regional exploration. ALL PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK.
