BLYTON, Enid. Five on Kirrin Island Again. London: Hodder & Stoughton Limited, 1947. First edition, first printing. First edition of the sixth Famous Five adventure, illustrated by Eileen Soper. Bound in the publisher’s original red textured boards with black lettering to the spine, striking blue-and-black pictorial endpapers, and colour frontispiece. This copy retains the original illustrated dust jacket, not price-clipped, with the original 6/- net price present on the front flap. A notable first-edition point is the well-known reversed telescope illustration error, in which the telescope is depicted being looked through from the wrong end. This was corrected in later printings and is a recognised identifying feature of early copies. Illustrated throughout, including the colour frontispiece showing the Famous Five looking through the telescope. Condition: Book: Very Good. Dust Jacket: Good. The book is in very good condition for its age. The red boards remain clean, bright and attractive, with only light signs of handling and wear. The binding is sound and firm. Pages are clean overall, with light age-toning consistent with a book of this period. No ownership inscriptions noted. The original dust jacket is complete and presents attractively, although it shows age-related wear to the extremities. There is rubbing, creasing and some small areas of loss and chipping, particularly around the spine ends and corners, together with short edge tears. The front panel remains bright and visually appealing. The jacket is not price-clipped and retains the original 6/- net price. A particularly collectable example of this early Famous Five title, combining the desirable 1947 first edition, original dust jacket, illustrated endpapers and the distinctive reversed telescope error. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition description. Shipping Notice: Please note that international shipping costs are estimated. Additional charges may apply for this item due to size or weight. We will confirm any extra postage costs with the buyer before processing the order.…

Store description
Step into the world of Cranston & Perry, where every shelf holds a little history and every book has a story beyond the one printed on its pages. We seek out books with character, from time-worn editions with foxed pages, beautiful bindings and forgotten inscriptions, to collectable children’s books, literary classics, unusual finds and modern voices worth rediscovering. Some are rare. Some are wonderfully ordinary. Some have travelled through generations before reaching us. What matters is that each deserves to find the right reader and a new place on the shelf. Part antiquarian bookseller, part treasure hunter and entirely devoted to books, Cranston & Perry celebrates literature in all its forms: beautiful, rebellious, curious, scholarly, nostalgic and occasionally rather strange. Every book has a past. Every reader begins another chapter. We simply bring the two together.…
