Add to basketH.G. Wells (1868-1946) was an English writer whose science fiction novels are so highly regarded that Wells is often referred to as the father of science fiction. His novel The First Men on the Moon tells the story of a journey to the moon undertaken by businessman Bedford and scientist Cavor. Bedford and Cavor discover that the moon is inhabited by an advanced alien civilization of insect-like creatures they call "Selenites". Inspiration seems to come from Jules Verne's famous 1870 book From the Earth to the Moon and Jacques Offenbach's 1875 opera. The novel was first published in The Strand Magazine from November 1900 to June 1901. Here is the Strand Magazine, edited by George Newnes, Issue XXI, London, January 1901 to June 1901, 724 pages. Includes 15 parts of the First Men on the Moon: Chapter VI. The landing on the moon (Page 30-32); Chapter VII. Sunrise on the moon (Page 32-35); Chapter VIII. A lunar morning (Page 35-37); Chapter IX. Prospecting begins (Page 37-41; Chapter X. Lost men in the moon (Page 160-162); Chapter XI. The mooncalf pastures (Page 162-167); Chapter XII. The giddy bridge (Page 285-290); Chapter XVI. Points of view (Page 400-403); Chapter XVII. The fight in the cave of the moon butchers (Page 403-408); Chapter XVIII. In the sunlight (Page 408-409); Chapter XVIII continued (Page 497-499); Chapter XIX. Mr. Bedford alone (Page 499-505); Chapter XX. Mr. Bedford in infinite space (Page 505-507); Chapter XXI. Enthält 15 Teile der First Men on the Moon : Kapitel VI.
