A scarce and important regimental history of the First Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, covering its full World War I service from 1914 to 1919. Compiled by the Battalion's History Committee and published in Sydney in 1931, this first edition provides a detailed narrative of enlistment, training, Gallipoli operations, Western Front campaigns, command changes, honours, casualties, and post‑war demobilisation. Richly documented and highly sought after in Australian military historiography. This copy is in Very Good condition, with wear to corners and edges of the spine and a minor split to the gutter . Foxing is contained to the frontis pages, consistent with age, and the volume includes a later addition of a map inside the back cover. Binding remains sound. A strong example of this significant and increasingly uncommon A.I.F. unit history.
