Item description from seller

Fadengeheftete kartonierte Broschur mit Rücken- und Deckeltitel. Die Einbandkanten dezent berieben, Schnitte und Papier leicht nachgedunkelt, ansonsten rundum guter Erhaltungszustand. Typoskriptdruck. "The principal object of this book is to discuss in detail the structure of finite group rings over fields of characteristic, p, P-adic rings and, in some cases, just principal ideal domains, as well as modules of such group rings. This theory, which was conceived by Richard Brauer, has undergone major development in recent years. The present book, which in part follows very recent research papers, not only presents the classical results of Brauer, Green and others, in an often much smoother way than has so far been the case. but also includes a number of very new important contributions to the theory. The appproach does not emphasize any particular point of view, such as ring theoretic, character theoretic, etc., but aims to present a smooth proof in each case to provide the reader with maximum insight. However, the trace map and all its properties have been used to an extent which has not been seen before. This generalizes a number of classical results at no extra cost and also has the advantage that usually no assumption on the field is required. Finally, it should be mentioned that much attention is paid to the methods of homological algebra and cohomology of groups as well as connections between characteristic 0 and characteristic p. The book will be useful to graduate students and research workers needing an up-to-date account of modular representations of finite groups and related topics." (Verlagstext) Peter Landrock (born August 20, 1948 in Horsens) is a Danish cryptographer and mathematician. He is known for his contributions to data encryption methods and codes. Landrock has been active since the 1970s as research scientist and faculty member for Cambridge University and the University of Aarhus and others, and was active for Microsoft and Cryptomathic. He has been visiting professor at Oxford University, Leuven University and Princeton University. (Wikipedia) In englischer Sprache. X, 274, (4) pages. Groß 8° (152 x 227mm).…
