Bell's Indian and Colonial Library. By the author of 'Deeds That Won the Empire'. Illustrated with all 16 portraits (including portrait frontispiece of Marlborough), plus 13 plans & facsimile letter, as issued. Title page shows 1898. Copyright page notes: "This edition is issued for circulation in India and the Colonies only". First published in the same year 1898 by Smith, Elder & Co., London. With prize bookplate from State School No. 2605, Rathdown St, Carlton [Victoria, Australia], dated Xmas 1903, to first blank. Printed in Great Britain. Nicely bound in full blue LEATHER, gilt lettering on maroon leather label to spine, elaborate gilt floral design in compartments to spine, raised bands, both boards with gilt borders, gilt turn ins, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers. Slight handling wear, prize bookplate to first blank (with ink notation below), otherwise a very nice clean tight solid leatherbound copy. viii + 333pp. Uncommon thus. SB-4.
