Federico Barocci (c. 1533/35-1612) was one of the most innovative Italian artists of the second half of the 16th century. His art combines the Renaissance focus on the human body with an unparalleled use of colour and light. He created dynamic compositions that challenged the limitations of traditional pictorial boundaries, becoming a model for Baroque artists of the following century. Nearly 1,500 drawings by Barocci survive, providing invaluable insight into the artist's process and thinking. Essays by leading scholars in the field discuss the role of Urbino - Barocci's hometown - in the artist's development; his pioneering approach to religious subjects; his technique as a draftsman; the interdependence of painting and drawing in his work; and his use of red underpaint. Shipping Terms

All domestic orders ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LBs, or 1 KG. If your order is heavy or oversized, I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping will be required, particularly if you request priority shipping. I ship through the U.S. Post Office. For domestic orders, I typically purchase insurance for books valued $100 and over.

For most international orders, I use USPS priority international or first class international mail. In order to qualify for the advertised rates, a book must fit into a standard size priority envelope which is about 9" x 12" or 23cm x 30cm--the thicker the book, the less likely to fit. If the book will not fit inside the international priority envelope, it will have to be shipped via first class international or priority which is typically more expensive. Shipping time for international orders is usually 6-10 days, not including custom delays.

All books are shipped in cardboard boxes with bubble wrap inside. As mentioned above, domestic priority and priority international shipments may require the book to be shipped in a USPS priority envelope which is less sturdy than a cardboard box. Customers ordering priority or priority international are welcome to contact me prior to ordering the book in order to inquire about the possibility or added costs of shipping in a cardboard box rather than the USPS flat rate envelope.
