|vii + 45 pages. Good to Good minus. Paper covers replaced by plain library boards-and-tape binding. Light ex-library stamps, no markings on the interior pages. Lighthearted often close-to-comic study of 1940s bureaucrat language (often not that different from today). How to complicate the English language with overwrought words, how to use 5 words when 3 will do, and how to confuse with too much detail. Billed as a description of Federal language, but it also applies to all governments and corporations. (probably also applies to the world of booksellers, where 'Good' is not 'that' good. 'Fair' is rather wrecked, and 'poor' is near-toxic).
