This has the rare blue dust jacket, now protected, edge wear to jacket with some loss to spine ends. A young girl of generous and determined character, Bella Ford, comes inland from the sea-coast in order to find a lover who has betrayed her. After a journey of great trial and distress she is befriended and given a home by a family of shoemakers, who help her, largely through the widely differing devotions of three sons, to get back her faith in living. Through them she rediscovers beauty, fulfilment, love and great happiness: but not before a crisis of extreme tragedy has put her to the highest test.
