When Pygmalion was adapted as a musical "My Fair Lady", Julie Andrews was the first actor to take on the role of Eliza Doolittle in 1956, in Broadway, New York. This 1st UK edition therefore coincided with the premiere performance in Drury Lane, London two years later. She would of course be infamously rejected for the film version which ultimately starred Audrey Hepburn. This is a significant and rare document for fans of the musical and of Julie Andrews herself.
