"Fables in Slang" by George Ade, with illustration designs by Louis Henry Sullivan, is a hardcover First Thus Edition in Near Fine, VG+ condition, published for Christmas in 1972. This limited edition from Westvaco is without a jacket or slipcase. The covers are in great shape and the binding is square and tight. There is a minor abrasion, approximately 1 inch by 3 inches, on the illustrated front flyleaf, but the interior pages are clean and unmarked.George Ade's "Fables in Slang" is perhaps his most famous work, containing 26 satirical fables that humorously explore the struggles of people adapting to booming cities like Chicago. Ade, considered one of the first modern American humorists, followed in the footsteps of Mark Twain with his expert use of American colloquial vernacular. His fables often present little dramas with concrete evidence to implicitly critique social types, such as social climbers, while tacking on mock, often ironic morals. The book will be carefully packaged for shipment to ensure protection from the elements. A USPS electronic tracking number will be provided free of charge. Should you require further information or additional pictures of the book, please feel free to reach out.…

Store description
Alien Bindings is an online bookshop located in Baltimore that has been in operation for nearly 20 years. Alien Bindings caters to the sciences including the physical sciences, astronomy, mathematics, computer science, the social sciences and medicine. I also dabble in a wide array of other categories including antiquarian books and history. I run a clean, green business. I try to reuse clean materials for packaging whenever possible. For example, books are carefully packaged frequently using clean cardboard for custom made boxes, recycled paper is used for printed labels and recycled plastic or bubble wrap is used for a weather-proof barrier. I drop the packages off to my local post office via foot or cycle in order to further reduce the carbon footprint.…
