Folio (29 cm.) xiii, 168p. Illustrated with numerous black and white captioned photos and several maps. Bibliography and Index. Red cloth with gilt letters on the front cover and the spine and with a vignette in gilt on the front cover of a Confederate flag and an American flag. Fine with clean cloth and bright gilt and no internal markings. No dust jacket. Colonel Richard Bland Lee II, a cousin of Robert E. Lee, served in the U.S. Army along the Santa Fe Trail and in the Rocky Mountains. Pushed aside by younger officers during the Civil War, his moment of fame came during the Florida War. [from the Introduction] This book follows his life from 1797-1875.
