Thoroughly researched work tracing the development of ranching in south Texas, with special emphasis on the often overlooked sheep-raising activity. Due to severe problems with overgrazing, many ranches eventually changed from sheep to cattle ranching. The Farias Ranch, Bar S Ranch, Case Ranch, Bunce Ranch, and the Callaghan Ranch are among the many recorded in this book.
