FLORENCE & SOME TUSCAN CITIES PAINTED BY COLONEL R.C. GOFF DESCRIBED BY CLARISSA GOFF 1905 1ST 75 COLOR PLATES. Staying with the luxuriously illustrated books about Italy, I am pleased to offer: "Florence & Some Tuscan Cities" painted by Colonel R.C. Goff and described by Clarissa Goff. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¾ x 9 x 2 inches, 262 pages) was published (like many of the other books I am currently listing) by Adam & Charles Black of London dated 1905 and presumably the First Edition. The book is bound with dark red cloth boards and multi-color decorations with gilt titles. There are 75 full-page color plates, each protected by a captioned tissue-guard. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There has been some fraying to the edges along the top of the front cover and smudges to the finish in the same area, probably from insects (no longer present). The back cover has a small bruise and is a bit darkened as is the spine (nothing extreme). The colors and gilt of the boards are still bright and attractive. Inside there is a bookplate of the former owners and the inked name of the woman on the front endpaper. There is some foxing in the early and late pages probably from the acids of the binding glues. This does not penetrate the interior pages and plates or their tissue-guards which are generally clean and without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. There is a water stain of ¾ inch length and quite narrow to the rear endpaper at the bottom of its hinge. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
