About this Item
Limited First Edition. Illustrated throughout with full-page plates rendered in colours from Hallman's evocative paintings, the text-block illustrated throughout with drawings in black and white. Folio, bound in wraps with a Hallman drawing and lettering in blue and black on the upper cover and protected with original glassine. Housed in the original slipcase with red lettering label to the upper cover. 300, [1] pp. A very fine, clean copy with just a touch of mellowing to the spine panel and light age wear to the slipcase. FIRST EDITION, BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED. Baudelaire's most famous collection of poetry, with the text in the original French. Hallman's female portraits are spontaneous and graceful throughout. Included are Baudelaire's Spleen et Idéal, Tableaux Parisiens, Revolte, La Mort, Pieces Condamnées and Supplement aux Fleurs du Mal. The paintings are rich in colours and marry perfectly to the text.
