"A revealing behind-the-scenes portrait of the award-winning TV show Inside the Actors Studio and its creator and host, James Lipton. Each week Inside the Actors Studio takes the unique insights and intimate revelations of its celebrated guess into 84 million homes on the Bravo network. Now, with Inside Inside, James Lipton is handing everone a backstage pass. The reader of these pages will find, in unprecedented close-up, the wit, wisdom and candor of a galaxy of stars, from Paul Newman to Barbra Streisand, Al Pacino, Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Clint Eastwood, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, Ellen Burstyn, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Martin Scorsese, Sharon Stone, Mike Nichols, Russell Crowe and many more, and will marvel at the comic inventions of Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle - and Will Ferrell as James Lipton on the Inside state. With the same candor he demands of his guests, James Lipton reelates a life that began under the tutelage of a poet, his father, and a teacher, his mother; continued in the orbit of three theatrical giants, Stella Adler, Harold Clurman, and Robert Lewis." -excerpt from the inner front jacket flap. "Great, colorful stories about every side of show business. James Lipton lets it all go; his openness about himself, and artists of all stripes, is refreshing." - Paul Newman. "James Lipton is the most penetrating and compassionate interviewer I've ever known, but, more important, a terrific guy." - Anthony Hopkins. "Once in a blue moon a person comes along whose genuine interest in craft excites an artist, and rekindles his own interest in his craft. In these pages you'll find out how James Lipton does it." - John Travolta. "A beautiful job. A wonderfully enlightening, warmly nostalgic read." - Morgan Freeman. "If you have watched the show, you'll love this book.If you haven't seen the show, you'll love this book." - Billy Crystal. "What could be more fun than to spend more time with the delightful James Lipton, the man who gets inside everybody's mind, heart, and method?" - Sharon Stone. "Very few books take you this far inside. It's gloriously rich with fine artists putting into words what seems impossible to put into words." - Alan Alda. "James Lipton's epic interview with the Simpsons taught me things I didn't know about the actors I've been working with for fifteen years." - Matt Groening, creator, The Simpsons. "James creates such a warm environment that you feel as though you're among friends. I just loved this experience." - Michelle Pfeiffer. "This is a spectacular book that illuminates the creative process and the soul of the artist more than any book I've read in a very long time." - Ellen Burstyn, Co-President, Actors Studio. "Every page brings forth revelations and experiences that could not possibly have happened in one single life. But in James Lipton's case, they certainly did. A joyful read." - Martin Landau, Co-Artistic Director, Actors Studio West. Lames Lipton writes the way he talks, with fluency and passion. His own story is as startling and revealing as his interviews. We at the Actors Studio treasure him." - Lee Grant, Co-Artistic Director, Actors Studio. "With all due respect to the actors and actresses he has famously interviewed, Jame Lipton is as interesting a character as any of them. Happily, he has the wit, erudition, and storytelling skills to do justice to his own amazing story." - Jay McInerney, author, Bright Lights, Big City.
