Presumed first ed.; 630 p., clean and unmarked within on strong paper only mildly age-toned; price written on upper corner of front end page; faint smudges on frontis. portrait of author with holograph signature; many photos of prominent figures of the day; gutters cracked but text block with sewn signatures firm; in absence of d.j. the brown boards with silver gilt lettering and oval stamped portrait of author are much bumped and scuffed. Handwritten preface of extreme interest to a handwriting analyst, revealing a man less extroverted and more humble than one might have imagined; scrupulously honest; mostly logical mind with some sparks of intuition; puritanical yet kindly.
