About this Item
Boothby, Guy. THE FASCINATION OF THE KING. London: Ward, Lock, 1897. Illustrations by Stanley L. Wood. First Edition. A FINE copy in original publisher's dark blue cloth, decorated in gilt with gilt-bordered color onlay to the front cover. A tiny bit of shelf wear and a previous owner's signature dated in the year of publication are all that detract from this fine, bright and attractive example of one of Boothby's classic novels of intrigue; in this case, a Frenchman appears from Southeast Asia claiming to have been made the king of an exotic country (later it's determined he is neither French nor royal), going on to cause historical havoc in Europe until exposed.
