The first edition of this very scarce work.Illustrated with a frontispiece, eleven chromolithographs, and eleven monochrome plates.A contemporary exploration of the architecture being designed and built during the Victorian age. With a discussion on Gothic architecture, this volume also looks into the aesthetic and ornaments of architecture, and some of the eminent architects of the recent history, such as Christopher Wren.Including a monthly review of the world's architectural progress.Collated, lacking one plate. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, boards are dampstained, with some discolouration and warping. Rubbing to the boards and spine, with some loss, to the head of the joints, and to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm, rear hinge is strained. Internally, firmly bound. Textblock is tidemarked, with some patches of molding. The occasional scattered spot. Fair.
