Marbled 1/2 leather, gray paper covered boards, 5 raised bands with gilt-stamped compartments, lacking title label, marbled endpapers (perhaps not original to issue). Surface rubbing to boards, several scratches to back cover, leather mostly intact though with rubbed corners. Edges rubbed with exposure, modest leather loss to top front and bottom rear corners. Firm binding. Former owner's signature on blank opposite main title, dated 1782, another signature dated 1825 on main title. [xvi],366,[1] pp., illus. w/ figures in text. Interior nicely intact, with minimal toning or foxing, all leaves firmly anchored. Very scarce. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
