First edition of Robins's study of the history and techniques of etching. With vignette and full-page illustrations throughout, including ninety-five print reproductions, and twenty illustrations depicting etching techniques. 238 pages plus 5 pages of bibliography and 12 pages of advertising to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth backed paper covered boards. Externally, good, some staining. Edgewear, light chipping and light staining. Paper spine label missing a portion from the center. Internally, very good. Firmly bound. End papers slightly darkened with age. Pages clean and bright with no markings.
