A fine and fetching collection of studies by the noted folklorist Alexander Scheiber, published posthumously, the last of his extensive studies. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound in hardcover format, black cloth over boards, generally clean, lightly toned at worst, minimal rubbing to extremities. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, little worn but lightly sunned at spine--machine-clipped but not price-clipped. Quadrulingual in Hebrew, English, French and German. Four sections, paginated consecutively, beginning with 397 pp. and then another 56 pp. of Hebrew language. From the dust-jacket blurb, "a scholarly collection that explores the intersection of Jewish folklore, literature, and comparative studies. Scheiber, a prominent scholar in Jewish studies, examines various aspects of Jewish culture and tradition through the lens of folklore and literary analysis, offering insights into the broader cultural and intellectual currents that shaped Jewish communities over time."Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets. …

Store description
Member, I.O.B.A. (the Independent On-line Booksellers Association) "Structure" versus "Agency." A phrase that has characterized much social-scientific debate. Does “structure” (the routinized regulations of kinship and marriage, work and reproduction, of race, class and gender) determine history, or is it the “agency” of fully conscious, independently acting, individuals? Structure, Verses, Agency Books isn’t going to solve the debate, but we’ll offer you lots of all three. Versus to verses—we specialize in fine, rare and collectible books, from the fine arts to the social sciences, from poetry to photography, from literature and ethnography to fine bindings and Americana. Structure, Verses, Agency Books…

Terms of sale
I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and
every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition
insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers,
get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. If for some reason you don't
like your purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to
you at all, you might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the
estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that
you've ordered, please contact me or use the "Ask bookseller a question"
link to contact me and I'll respond within two business days.
