Post8vo, hand coloured frontispiece of six flies, engraved title with the hand coloured Fairy Fly, printed title, xvi, 395 p. Multi-folding map of the lower Erne by Day & Son plus four engraved plates as called for. Original maroon blind-stamped cloth, lettered gilt, gilt Fairy Fly on the upper cover, pale yellow endpapers. Backstrip faded to brown, two small professionally repaired edge tears in the first plate (not near the engraved area), a larger tear intruding into the engraved area in plate two however it is practically invisible on the engraved side, two minute (3mm or less) nicks in the head and one minute nick in the tail of the backstrip apart from these noted faults this copy is near fine and by far the best copy we have had. Overall a very good plus first edition. Copies of the Erne in the original cloth are very scarce and desirable. Seller Inventory # 15865
